Hi.
Welcome to my travel blog. I'm off tomorrow to wander round Mali for a month with the lovely Deirdre, and thought I'd make use of all this wonderful shiny technology to keep anyone who cares apprised of my movements/ reassure them that I'm not dead/kidnapped by bandits/otherwise lost at sea. If I can get the technology to work I will try to upload some photos as I go.
We fly tomorrow at 11am, stop off at Tripoli and get to Bamako at 10pm.
Big news of the moment is, I have just booked a hotel for tomorrow night. We arrive pretty late tomorrow, so I thought it would be nice to have somewhere to sleep. I did a bit of Googling, found a nice cheap place, polished up my basic French, plucked up courage and rang. Happily the chap spoke english so I was saved potential humiliation. We are going L'Auberge Lafia, sounds pretty good.
So, I'm all but packed (i.e. I'm not actually packed but I have piles of things on my bed). I had better get on with getting actually packed.
